N°18 – Department House - 1790 to 1804
This wealthy neoclassical house was built between 1790 and 1804 and bought by the administration in 1868. It is used by the Department cultural and sports service and for receptions and exhibitions. It has the only roofed guetali and the biggest remaining garden on the street 6000m² / 20000ft². It’s a french garden. You can see geranium, vetiver and ylang ylang. Screwpine / Pandanus utilis and Talipot palm Corypha umbraculifera : native to Bangladesh, blossoms once in its lifetime after 35 to 80 years and then dies.
